Добрый день!

Сегодня мы продолжаем тренироваться говорить по-английски и использовать некоторые оригинальные, “настоящие” английские фразы и словосочетания.

Сегодня наша тема – Your Job (Occupation)

Imagine yourself answering the following questions:

1. What do you do?

2. Tell me please about your job.

3. What are the best things about your job?

4. And are there any worst things?

5. Why did you choose this job?

6. How long have you been doing this job?

7. What do you like about your job?

Now, having read and comprehended the questions given above, please think about how to answer them. While thinking mind that you should better start with easy words, with more elaborate collocations to follow. Consider the following words and word combinations:

– share responsibility within the team;

– line of work;

– line of business;

– work for the government;

– exhausting;

– hectic;

– undemanding;

– boring, tedious daily routine;

– be in charge of the department;

– be involved into management.

Now let’s look them up in the dictionary if you feel you are not fully aware of their meaning, and then see some sentences these words may appear in.

1. – After one or two jobs in the new field, they go back to their former line of work.

– You will see the examples by job seekers in your profession, industry, or related line of work.

– Provide an example from your line of work or daily life illustrating how well you cope with stress.

2. – She was in charge of watching the young swimmers.

– You’re in charge of making the salad.

– He is the security agent in charge at the airport.

– The president will take charge of the new country.

3. – My colleague is deeply involved into the process of decision making.

– What can we do to get management directly involved in safety?

– Perhaps, you want to get more involved into team work?

Now imagine yourself talking about your job or occupation for 2-3 minutes. Try to use some of the afore-mentioned collocations.

До встречи в следующей статье.

Дмитрий
